C is for Curiosity

Come Along for Some Fun!

There’s something delightful about the letter C. It invites children into a world of color, creativity, curiosity, and connection. This week we’ll follow caterpillars as they prepare for an amazing transformation, zoom little cars across homemade roads, mix colorful art with crayons, and discover that learning happens best when little hands are busy.

One of the greatest gifts we can give preschoolers is the freedom to explore. They don’t need expensive toys or complicated lessons. A few simple supplies, a favorite story, a walk outside, or baking together in the kitchen can become the foundation for meaningful learning.

Throughout our Letter C adventures, we’ll explore:

  • 🐛 Caterpillars and the incredible life cycle that reminds us wonderful things take time.
  • 🍪 Cookies as we practice measuring, counting, following directions, and sharing.
  • 🚗 Cars through imaginative play, ramps, races, maps, and simple engineering.
  • 🌈 Colors and Crayons while experimenting with art, color mixing, and creative expression.
  • 🥕 Carrots as we garden, cook, taste, and learn where healthy foods come from.
  • ☁️ Clouds as we look to the sky, observe weather, and let our imaginations wander.
  • 🧁 Cupcakes for sweet opportunities to count, decorate, celebrate, and practice fine motor skills.
  • 🍬 Candy through sorting, patterns, graphing, and special holiday-themed activities.
  • 🐄 Cows as we discover life on the farm, where our food comes from, and the important work farmers do.

As always, we’ll blend ideas inspired by Montessori’s love of purposeful, hands-on learning with the gentle beauty and imagination often found in Waldorf education. You’ll also find simple printable activities, book recommendations, recipes, crafts, outdoor adventures, and practical learning ideas that fit naturally into family life.

There is no rush in preschool.

Some days your child may spend thirty minutes drawing with crayons. Another day they may ask a hundred questions about clouds or spend an hour pushing toy cars across the living room floor. Those moments aren’t distractions from learning—they are learning.

So gather a few crayons, bake something together, watch the clouds drift overhead, and welcome the wonder that comes with the letter C.

Happy exploring! Let me know in the comments what your preschoolers favorite part was.
